Made by compressing wood fibers into a wax and resin binder, this medium-density fibreboard is generally denser than plywood and perfect for templates and underlayment applications.

Composed of separated fibres, it can be used as a building material similar in application to plywood. The term MDF is derived from the distinction in densities of fibreboards.
